I'm Ben, a long-time Gamestormer, designer, trainer and facilitator. I've been designing things and helping teams solve all sorts of product, service, and business problems since around the mid 90s, at a wide variety of organisations. These days I head up my own training consultancy, Bright Pilots. I'm also pretty big on visualisation and drawing at work, and I'm the author of Presto Sketching, Draw in 4, and 50 Remote-Friendly Icebreakers.

I first came across Gamestorming in late 2010, when my manager bought the book for us all to read, at the design agency where I was working at the time. Back then I was passionate about co-design, and designing WITH my clients, rather than just FOR them, so I just ate that book right up!

Since then, I've regularly dipped into both the Gamestorming book and the website, whenever I wanted to add more variety to my own workshopping practice. It has helped to fuel my career in designing ways of working (example: the Atlassian Team Playbook), and coming up with a few games of my own (such as Superhero Booth). I love seeing the engagement and productivity magic happen when a team realises that they can take a game and change the rules to suit their outcome! The thrill!

A huge lesson that Gamestorming has taught me is the value of exploration, as well as the opening and the closing, in any workshop. That's where I see real insights unlocked... but I'll tell you about that another time!
